The Difference Between Electric and Acoustic Drum

Sets

Acoustic Drum Set

Acoustic drum sets were the first of the two drum sets that were invented. These drum sets are made up of a snare drum, bass or kick drum, rack and floor toms, hi-hat, ride cymbal, and a crash cymbal. On acoustic drum sets, the drum itself produces the sound when the drummer strikes the drum head with their sticks. Acoustic drum sets are played in multiple styles like jazz, rock, blues, country, and folk. Acoustic drum sets have a large range of prices, ranging from $350-$8,000; the cymbals usually have to be purchased separately. Acoustic drum sets are much louder than electronic drum sets. Acoustic drums may be easier to play because it's a larger size.

 Electronic Drums

Electronic drum sets were invented to replicate the sound of an acoustic drum set. Early electronic drums only gave an estimate of the sound of an acoustic drum. Electronic drum sets are also played in many styles of music, but originally in disco, techno, and rock. Electronic drum sets range between $350-$3,000 or a little bit more. In the past ten years, companies have invented electronic kits that look and feel like an acoustic kit when played. Electric drum sets are plugged into an amp and allowing you control the volume. Also, you can change the setting of the different drum pads. You can change it to have a rock or dance hit.
